Treating Depression
In this issue of Psychiatric Annals, three articles give a review of the latest on depression treatment. An analysis of the Sequential Treatment Alternatives to Relieve Depression (STAR*D) trial gives the practicing psychiatrist valuable information about the implications of research. Also in this month’s issue is a review of current thinking about antidepressants and suicide risk. The issue concludes with a challenging case involving a young man with suicidal thoughts and urges linked to urinary hesitancy.
